Hair loss is a very common concern, affecting 6.5 million men and 8 million women the UK alone and yet there is limited access to effective medical treatments, information and support in this area. Hair loss covers all areas of the body including head, brows, lashes, beard and can be either naturally occurring with age and hormone changes, or due to underlying medical conditions or drugs like chemotherapy as an example.
Talkhealth is supporting Dr Wong in a survey and recruitment programme to help better understand the experiences and challenges faced by those with hair loss. This in turn will help to direct future services, products and activities to improve the patient journey in this area. At the end of the survey there is an opportunity to register your interest to participate in consumer trials and test the products over a 3-6 month period.
At present the only medically proven topical treatment for hair loss is Minoxidil (Regaine) which is available over the counter at fixed strengths of 2% and 5%. Higher and more effective concentrations of Minoxidil, combined with other proven pharmaceutical actives for hair loss are only available on prescription via specialist pharmacists. The new product range and service aims to provide better access to such prescription grade topical treatments for the commonest forms of hair loss through a convenient online platform.
All those that enter the survey will be entered into a prize draw with 10 people being offered a £10 voucher randomly chosen on the close date of this survey.
