Active School Travel - Parent & Guardian Baseline Survey

Dear Parents and Guardians

We are seeking your feedback as part of a new active travel program our school will be launching in Term 2, Week 9.

The Active School Travel (AST) program is a free program run by the City of Gold Coast for Gold Coast primary schools. It aims to reduce school traffic congestion and improve student road safety skills, by supporting our students and staff to travel to school in more active ways like walking, riding a bike, scooter or skateboard or catching the bus.

Active travel can be a great way to get to and from school on the Gold Coast. When school communities actively travel, children feel empowered, there is less traffic on our roads and less pollution in our environment. It doesn’t necessarily mean active travel every day, just the days when it works for you and your child or children. The AST program offers several core initiatives including weekly active travel days, bus education programs, bicycle skills training workshops, regular AST program breakfast events at school, and road safety education with the program mascot, Zero the Hero.

To help guide the way we tailor the AST program to our school, we need to hear from you – your views and opinions. It doesn’t matter how you currently travel to school, or whatever your views are on the program, we really need to hear from everyone. Only then can we be sure we will craft a program to suit the needs of our whole school community.

The survey takes just over 5 minutes to complete, and all the results are completely confidential.

Everyone who completes the survey in full will have the option to be entered into a prize draw to win one of the following five prizes:
Uniform shop voucher valued at $50 each 3 winners
Tuckshop voucher valued at $50 each 2 winners

The survey will close at 5pm on Friday 6 June 2025. We will let you know what the results show when it's all done.
