Protected area management effectiveness (PAME)
Thank you for providing information on protected area management effectiveness evaluations (PAME) from your country. This data will feed into the Regional Resource Hub (RRH) and the Global Database on Protected Area Management Effectiveness (GD-PAME). The GD-PAME is the most comprehensive global database of management effectiveness assessments for protected areas. It indicates if a protected area documented in the World Database on Protected Areas (WDPA) has been assessed. It includes assessments submitted by a wide range of governmental and non-governmental organisations and is updated on a monthly basis.

Why is reporting PAME data important?
PAME data is used by a wide range of groups including scientists, NGOs, private sector and international bodies, in order to answer questions on how well protected areas are being managed after designation. The GD-PAME is fundamental for fulfilling several global reporting mechanisms, and for developing indicators and tracking progress towards protected areas targets. Having the raw assessments available to us will help to develop better indicators towards the related post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework targets and provide more useful information for our data users. However, the raw assessments are not mandatory for this submission.

Where will this data be published?
Once you submit your data, RCMRD and UNEP-WCMC will process the information and get back to you with any questions. This data will then be visible and downloadable on the Regional Resource Hub (RRH) and the Protected Planet Initiative
