MASSIVE retail developments are in the pipeline for Carlisle.

Major retailers are said to be interested in setting up stores – if they can find suitable sites.
And the signs are that they won’t be short of places to go.

A blueprint for the future of Carlisle city centre could see the landmark Civic Centre cleared to make way for a major retail development in Rickergate.
Plans have also been unveiled for a large shopping scheme in Lowther Street, while any move by Carlisle United away from Brunton Park could also be done in tandem with retail.

But, while those involved in retail in Carlisle say confidence about the city’s future is growing, which retailers would you like to see move into the city? What would keep you local rather than travelling to the Metro Centre, Glasgow or Manchester for your shopping?
Today, The Cumberland News asks what you want from shopping in Carlisle, what your shopping habits are and what needs to happen to make them change.
