Annual Project Submission Guidelines

Every year, McCarthy’s Phoenix office invites their friends and family to come together as McCarthy Heart Hat volunteers and help our community through a hands-on building project.

McCarthy Heart Hats are seeking nominations for the 2014 hands-on building projects to consider for its annual Heart Hats Community Project. Heart Hats are open to a wide range of projects, but we do have some criteria. If you have a project that meets the criteria below, please submit it by completing this nomination form and submitting with photos by 5PM on Monday, June 30, 2014.

Heart Hats awards grants, and selects a hands-on project each year. Organizations are encouraged to complete the appropriate application, and may apply for both.

Heart Hats Mission: Through Heart Hats, McCarthy, its employees and family members share time, talent and resources to give back and build our community.

Heart Hats awards grants, and selects a hands-on project each year. Organizations are encouraged to complete the appropriate application and may apply for both.

Project Criteria:

  • Project directly provides services/assistance to children in the Greater Phoenix community;
  • Recipient organization must be a registered 501(c)3 non-profit;
  • A building renovation or building rehabilitation project that allows for a range of hands-on work (standard demolition, painting, shelving, drywall, roofing, concrete, framing, landscaping, etc.) be done at a physical site;
  • Addressing a need through our expertise as builders, where an organization is facing financial challenges;
  • Allows for hands-on work for approximately 50 volunteers over 2 – 4 weekends;
  • This project seeks submissions from non-profit organizations that primarily focus on serving the Greater Phoenix community, and dedicate the majority of their resources to our local community;
  • Project must be located in the Greater Metropolitan Phoenix area.

What we don’t do: While our Heart Hats volunteers are committed to helping organizations that provide needed aid to children in our community, we are limited by a few factors for this project selection, which we want to make potential submitters aware.

  • Swimming pools
  • Parking structures or garages
  • Playground shade structures
  • Fund on-going operations costs or simply write a check to an organization for this project. To apply for funding only, please complete the grant submission form.
